Privacy policy
This policy applies to all apps I publish (the "apps") and to rickymcdaniel.net and its subdomains, all made by Ricky McDaniel ("I", "me"). Each app's store listing and web page describe what that app does; this policy describes how all of them treat your information.
1. The short version
I do not collect your data. My apps have no accounts, no servers of mine, no analytics, no crash reporters and no ads. What an app saves stays on your phone. The website has no analytics, no cookies and no forms.
2. What the apps save on your phone
Each app saves what it needs to do its job, such as the things you type into it, your settings and a short history of what it did, in the app's private storage on your phone. I never receive any of it. App data is excluded from Android cloud backup unless the app's listing says otherwise. If you use an export feature, the file is written only to the place you choose, and what happens to it afterwards is up to you.
3. What the apps read on your phone
Some apps need to read information on your device to work. Depending on the app, this can include which app is currently on screen (Android's Usage access), the connected Bluetooth or wired audio device, the current volume levels, alarm and notification settings, or text from your phone's own speech recogniser when you choose to speak instead of type. No app reads what is on your screen.
This information is used only on your phone, only for the feature you turned on, and is never transmitted, shared or sold. Where Android treats the information as personal or sensitive, such as your list of apps, the app explains in plain words why it needs it before asking, and you can withdraw the permission in Android Settings at any time.
If you use your phone's speech recogniser, that system feature (often provided by Google) turns your speech into text, and the app receives only the text. The recogniser's handling of audio is governed by its provider's policy, not this one.
4. Permissions
Each app asks only for the Android permissions its features need and explains each one inside the app and on its store listing. Optional permissions can be refused; the app keeps working without the features that need them.
5. Internet and sharing
My apps do not send your data to me or to anyone else. An app that does not need the internet does not request the internet permission at all, so Android will not let it open a network connection. If an app ever needs to send something off your phone, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the app's store listing will say so.
6. Purchases
Some apps offer optional in-app purchases, handled entirely by Google Play's billing system. I never see your name, payment details or address. An app learns only whether a purchase is owned, so it can unlock the feature you paid for. Google's handling of the payment is covered by Google's privacy policy and the Google Play terms.
7. The website
rickymcdaniel.net and its subdomains are static pages. They set no cookies, run no analytics and contain no forms. The hosting provider may keep ordinary server logs (IP address, page requested, time) for security; I do not use them to identify you. The Google Play badge links to Google's site, which has its own policy.
8. Analytics and advertising
None, in the apps or on the website. No advertising SDK, no tracking, no third-party analytics.
9. Keeping and deleting your data
Data stays on your phone until you remove it. You can delete items inside an app, clear the app's storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the app, which removes everything it stored. Because I hold no copy, there is nothing for me to delete on my side.
10. Children
The apps and the website are not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with a new effective date.
